METALLICA UPDATE
6/15/2007 [ back ]

Metallica returned to HQ this week after a short break to begin rehearsing for their "Sick Of The Studio" Tour. Yesterday, the winners from the METALLICA: THE VIDEOS 1989-2004 DVD radio and online contests were treated to the HQ VIP treatment with a delicious BBQ, a few autographs, and an intimate performance from the band in the jam room. I think it is safe to say everyone had a great time.

unfortunattely there is no exact setlist of this show known....

No Leaf Clover (jam w/ James only)
Orion
Fade to Black
Am I Evil? (full)
Disposable Heroes
The Unforgiven
…And Justice for All
Nothing Else Matters

As for proof, I got this from a different setlist page, it surfaced on the net shortly after the rehearsal, presumably from one in attendance on the metallica.com message boards.

From where exactly did you get this? Cause that setlist is just a little tough to swallow for that date and that particular event.

I have no doubt they did play for the contest winners, but that setlist is a little hard to believe. They hadn't started playing most of those songs until the then-upcoming tour, and some of them were only sporadically played. That setlist looks to me like one put together by someone who was trying to use songs on the tour to make a plausible sounding setlist. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I would certainly like to know who the source is.

My goof (singe, you know I'd never steer you wrong).. now that I've had time to look I found an article reading:

"Yesterday (yourlastwords: June 27), the band rehearsed on the stage of tonight’s show. This was the setlist:

No Leaf Clover jam
Orion
Fade to Black
Am I Evil?
Disposable Heroes
The Unforgiven
… And Justice for All
Nothing Else Matters

Compared to the setlist reported earlier, Orion, Am I Evil?, and Disposable Heroes look set to be played regularly on the tour. Big suprise is the inclusion of the “…And Justice For All” title song in the rehearsal."

However, further down the page I founda June 17 article reading:

"Metallica is back in their HQ to rehearse for the upcoming European tour. Winners from different radio contests were invited in the HQ and they watched as Metallica played this setlist

No Leaf Clover jam
The Four Horsemen
Ride The Lightning
The Memory Remains
Stone Cold Crazy
Disposable Heroes
Am I Evil?
Orion
Master of Puppets (short version)"

Now I knew there was a setlist out there and this one sounds more familiar because I know I didn't expect ...And Justice For All when it was ultimately played on the 28th, and this setlist surfaced 11-12 days earlier.

Yeah, I think so too, that this setlist is more trustful because of the AJfa-Surprise....
