Bratislava 1993 - things you might want to know

Postby Michal Stankoviansky » Mon Jan 21, 2008 7:18 pm

June 8, 1993 - Bratislava, Slovakia

First and so far (as of January 2008) the only Metallica show ever in Slovakia.

Openers: The Cult, Megadeth

During Last Caress, Jim Martin (Faith No More guitarist at the time) came on stage and sang the song with Metallica. (Faith No More had a show in Bratislava just 2 days after Metallica.) Very interesting.

Also, the correct name of the venue is "Inter Slovnaft Stadium", not the "Sloven Stadium" sh*t that's all around the web - that one doesn't even exist ;-)

Thanx.

Michal - www.metallica.sk :-)

Thanks for the updates! I'm gonna add it anyway, cause really, why would someone lie about this [biggrin] - but is there anywhere I can see that venue name?

And here's my speculation about how the incorrect venue name got into all the tour dates on the web - there's another stadium just across the street, called Slovan Stadium (so, not Sloven, but it's very close). Someone in the crew or whoever might think that's a name of the stadium where Metallica performed that night, I don't know. First time I saw this incorrect venue name was in the book in the Live Shit box in 1994 and then someone might put it on the web from there and since then it's been everywhere no matter how hard I try to correct it everywhere ;)

BTW, also notice the incorrect support bands listed on the ticket - The Cult did perform, but Alice In Chains stepped off the tour by that time and have been replaced by Suicidal Tendencies at some shows, but Bratislava, Budapest and some other cities had Megadeth instead of Alice In Chains.
